Please meet our very own CIVIX Ambassador Michele Cumberland. Mrs. Cumberland teaches grades 7-8 and is a true civics education innovator. She has been teaching for 24 years and is very involved in citizenship and democracy education, leading the whole school in the Student Votes initiative in every election. Mrs. Cumberland also organizes all-candidates forums for students that garner attention and discussion in the wider community.
She is a strong advocate for increasing civics instruction in the curriculum, mentoring colleagues and providing accessible resources. She is currently working on an initiative to bring cross-curricular civics instruction to every grade at Holy Cross.
