Making a Difference in our Community!

As part of a multi-lesson program our grade 7 and 8 students teamed up with OASISS (Okanagan and Similkameen Invasive Species Society). OASISS staff took the students to the Max Lake Conservation Area on the West Bench and taught them to identify local invasive species. Afterwards, the students helped to remove invasive thistle from the area and re-plant native species. What was once a barren field of invasive grasses and thistle will now be a biodiverse habitat for a multitude of species.

Great work students!

Many thanks to OASISS for this interesting program!
